The title track has the requisite fuzz, slouching and dragging its heels while female vocals try gamely to inject some life into the tune. It’s indie pop by numbers, without the feeling. The vocals are a tad grating too. On the whole it’s an inauspicious start to the debut EP from Glasgow’s Strawberry Whiplash.
It Rains On Other Planets is better, but still a rather flimsy effort. If you like your pop very twee with seemingly affected vocals, you’ll like this. And there’s nowt wrong with that at all. Promise is shown too as the songs keep on getting better as we progress through the EP, with
My Day Today and
Factory Girl reminding me of Heavenly, which is some sweet pop indeed.
